18/09/2016 – The closing round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup 2016 awarded I.S.R. racing with an exciting season end. The Czech team claimed the second place of Pro-AM Cup both in the drivers and teams standings.

The much awaited race at Nürburgring – weekend compacted in two days only, has not been easy at all, but I.S.R. racing had a very positive weekend with both cars. The two Audis R8 LMS have been protagonist since free practice, as the number 75 car driven by Marlon Stockinger (PHL), Frank Stippler (GER) and Filip Salaquarda (CZ) posted the third fastest time in 1’56.172, while the number 74 challenger of Philippe Giauque (CH), Henry Hassid (FRA) and Franck Perera (FRA) was only 7 tenths shy of the quickest lap.

Qualifying run on Sunday morning were spoiled by weather conditions. The fog fallen on the German track forced race direction to cancel Q1 and Q2, as only Q3 was partially run to define the starting grid before being eventually red flagged. Stockinger, Stippler and Salaquarda posted the tenth time in 1’58.801, while Giauque, Hassid and Perera were slowed down by traffic and could not complete their best lap due to the red flagging. They had therefore to start from the back of the grid in P45.

The race was run on dry track, despite the dark clouds coming in the final stages, and was quite exciting. Stippler started the race on the Audi R8 LMS keeping a constant pace without losing contact with the top ten before handing the wheel to Stockinger. The young driver from Philippines drove the mid stint on great lap times, showing a great maturity acquired throughout his maiden season in Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. Filip Salaquarda closed the race with a flawless third stint, crossing the line in eleventh place.

The challenge involving the n.74 Audi R8 LMS has been spectacular. Henry Hassid got away from the back of the grid but managed to get a lot of places back. At the end of the first hour, I.S.R. racing’s drivers were 29th absolute and eleventh of Pro-Am. Franck Perera took then over for a long mid stint. The French driver put in a series of very fast laps managing to slide in the top ten. The Czech outfit got the most of a full course yellow with one hour to go, pitting Perera at the right moment. Giauque rejoined fighting for the podium and closed third of Pro-Am in sixteenth absolute place. This extraordinary recover allowed I.S.R. racing to secure the second place of Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Pro-Am Teams with Hassid, Perera and Giauque ending second in the standings of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Pro-Am Drivers.

Igor Salaquarda (I.S.R. racing, Team Principal):
“It has been an extraordinary weekend. We have been showing a strong step forward compared to last year for the whole season, but this stunning result rewards the hard work, sacrifice and determination that we put on track round after round. Philippe, Henry and Franck led an amazing race today, they put in a bold performance that made them recover almost thirty positions. They truly deserved this second place and I am proud of their result. Marlon, Frank and Filip run a solid, mature and flawless race. I am proud of them too, and I am sorry that a few episodes spoiled their season. Overall, we had a strong season, the Audis R8 LMS are extraordinary cars and I have to thank the whole team for giving their best. Now time has come to enjoy this second place, before focusing on programmes for 2017”.
